The Application Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the development of customer solutions and technology for the Aerospace and Industrial Plate Value stream in Asia. The incumbent will focus on developing the platform projects from R&D and converting it into tangible customer projects. The incumbent will act as the main technical contact for key customers. The role requires a high level of engagement with the customers to understand customer needs and market requirements to showcase the value of aluminum as the right material of choice and ultimately meet customer expectation in product development.
Responsibilities:
• Introduce the new product and value-adding service and report progress from the customers and the plant side on development.
• Manage the CVI (Customer Value Index) projects and report from the commercial side meanwhile influencing the progress of the projects collaborating with R&D and Operation teams.
• Lead the assigned strategic agenda projects from global and regional A&IP team including sustainability projects.
• Oversee the CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) from technical side on claim process and continuous improvement.
• Manage application related onsite support and product continuous improvement projects.
• Serve as a technical interface with mid-senior technical leaders from the customers to support sales and marketing events.
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree (preferable PhD) in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering from a well-known university
• Strong engineering background in Aerospace industry is preferred
• Experience in a people management role will be an advantage
• Proficiency in English, able to work in a global exposure environment
• The ability to learn continuously and quickly under all circumstances and situations
